Which version are you using ? I remember that there was a problem with the DTL (template) that did registration, where the password field had been left off the template. I think (hope) that this got into the RC2 release. If it didnt then we must open a bug and get it fixed. The SUID is the Stanford University ID, which is only used at Stanford and integrates with the centralised WebAuth system they use there. There is no need for SUID to be anything other than unique. You might want to have a look at WebAuth and the OKI AuthN implementation within Coursework that integrates to that mechanism.
