The default 16mb ulimit for esmtp has been in place for decades. It also  
applies to couriertls, which has to load all certificates. So, it looks like  
the number of all root certificates has notably increased, at least in some  
distributions.

It'll be fine to increase the default, which I'll do in the next release.
