this with version 2.0b2, connecting to a linux box
running Fedora Core 1 with the vnc that is included
with that release.

Usually get it when typing into a terminal... though
the typed characters get thru (once you reconnect you
see them)... doesn't happen consistently, but happens
often.

Happens when connecting over a local network or
remotely. Happens regardless if the full screen fits
in the client window or not.

This bug was reported previously, but the release
version wasn't mentioned.

Unknown rectangle encoding 536870912 -> exiting
happens to me consistently when I try to connect
from my Mac (OS 10.3.2) through cotvnc-20b2 to a
machine running a TightVNC server under Windows
2000 Pro. VNCViewer version 2.01 works fine.

I think that this is fixed in CVS for the upcoming Chicken 2.0b3. I don't
have a linux box to test against, so I'd appreciate if the submitter can
    pull from CVS and test.

Sorry, I don't have the ability to build it :(

Okay, give this a shot (very unofficial build):

I'm getting the same problem with the 2.0b2r1 that you
posted. Connecting to realvnc on windows server 2k3.

Had this problem endlessly last night. Couldn't figure out
what to do. I'm more than willing to build anything you
send my way, test this out, get detailed bug reports, etc.

Ultimately I had to just use VNCViewer to get around it.

Thanks for that build. What is funny is, now that I have
both on my machine, I don't get that rectangle warning on
either one any more! Go figure!

Now, the problem that is *really* annoying is that, over the
public internet, I seem to lose key-up keyboard events which
causes the target computer to go into key-repeate mode. I
guess I should open another issue?

I have the similar problem with latest UltraVNC server on Windows.

I've tried build posted in comments, but it doesn't solve my problem. I
keep getting "Unknown rectangle encoding 49434 -> exiting"

Forgot to mention - this happens upon connection/initial screen display.

I'm also getting the Rectangle Encoding error.
Only happens on the Mac when trying to connect to Win box.
Win to Mac(ARD code at play) is working fine.
    Details.

    Mac - Tiger 10.4.1 - COTVNC 2.0b2
    Win - XP SP2 - TightVNC 1.2.9

    Where are the COTVNC logs?
