For those interested in source code from the repository: the corga code has been moved from CVS to subversion. Newer revisions (>2.0) can now be found at http://sourceforge.net/svn/?group_id=106966
Today I have moved corga's project home page from corga.jacomac.de to http://corga.sourceforge.net for increased performance.
Today, we have released two videos giving you a fast overview of corga. One is a system walkthrough, the other one a technical overview. Both can be accessed via the project site, or directly via this link:

Today Corga Version 2.0 has been released. Besides various bug fixes and the usual minor improvements, this version is a bigger step than before:
- it eventually includes an official release of the programme publisher utility and
- ships with a low hassle, preconfigured database, namely Hypersonic SQL, another successful sourceforge project.
Here the download link: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=106966
Today, with the release of version 1.5, corga works also with MySQL databases, additionally to MS SQL Server. The MySQL version also makes use of transactions, but doesn't need subselects and stored procedures. So any stable MySQL version >= 4.0 should work with corga now.
For more information see the Installation Guide in the CVS xor delivered with the new distribution of corga.
Thanks to Timo Schober for helping with the impolementation of the mysql data abstraction.
With the newest version 1.4.2, using Corga has now become an even smoother usage experience. For the administrator the setup of the database and the creation of new data displays for the conference organizers is now really easy. For the conference organizer, the admin pages have received some new features and the contextual help -and usability in general- has been improved. No extra database client needed anymore for the organizers!
Thanks everybody for their valuable feedback so far.
In the current version 1.3 that has been released today, you don't need to install a database client in order to view and export the data from the DB anymore. You can do it all through the admin pages now.
Also, any other SQL view can be defined and will be
automatically accessible from the web interface, as soon as
the System Administrator grants SELECT rights to the
corga_user for this. So it is fairly easy now to change and
create views on the collected data.
There is a known problem with corga version 1.2.1 concerning larger file uploads. Please use this patch to solve the problem: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1080521&group_id=106966&atid=646205
Version 1.2.1 is a bug-fix release, esp. for the review process.
Version 1.2 can now be downloaded from https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=106966
This version of corga comes with some fine tuning and enhanced ease of installation and maintenance.
One bug was removed which was that during registration, when logged in via paper login, the registering person did not get the second role "participant" assigned. This issue has now been resolved.
The Installation Guide has been updated. Always find the newest version at http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/corga/corga/. It will continuously be improved.
Today I have published a quick feature tour movie on corga Version 1, which soon will be released. This is to give you a first impression on the scope of the web app. The Flash movie can be found at http://corga.sourceforge.net/quick_feature_tour2/.
Bur please be aware that the movie clip although being in a streamable format is quite large and has a file size of 28.5 MB. The duration is 7 and a half minutes.
Corga Version 1 has been released. Aim of the corga web application is to widely support the processes that occur when a scientific conference or a workshop is being organised, with the submission of working papers as a starting point. After that reviewers for the submitted papers are being assigned and these reviewers judge the quality of the assigned papers using a standardized evaluation form. based on the reviews the administrator decides which papers shall be accepted and informs them about the acceptance. After that, when the programme is out, people are able to register for the conference including such gimmicks as invoice generation on the fly and production of badges for the participants.... read more
