It is a little unclear from the functional requirements as to the intent = of the MetaClass ontology. Is it a static compilation time class DAG or is it a dynamic type = creation system that allows me to prototype new types and semantics? The dynamic approach could = allow for the=20 creation of new types and allow coercion of parent types into the newly = created type. This coupled with some sort of dynamic dispatch mechanism could even = allow for method extension. Just a thought Tom |

Hi all, The web site has been updated again, 1-a few minor changes(and one eye candy) o added a download page htpp://corelinux.sourceforge.net/download.php since the corelinux is growing steadily and the framework library is born you can expect more stuff soon o updated all the manuals * the RCS keyworkds are now well supported thx to Hans * the developper manual has an autoconf for you developpers who use it it tells you the FULL story on how to check corelinux existence in configure.in, see http://corelinux.sourceforge.net/develop.php o new steel menu bar :) 2-I just added the classes reference manual in the menus now see http://corelinux.sourceforge.net/html/html/index.html the reference was generated with the new 0.4.26 release. You will find all the corelinux classes plus the ones used in the examples and the documentation for all the examples. Note that the examples classes are not in the corelinux namespace but might derive from corelinux classes. Unfortunately the examples documentation didn't make it to the libcorelinux-doc packages(deb or rpm) since I did it today but it will be there for the next release. Enjoy! As the title says! Includes: Cleanup of Debian and Redhat packages Examples and class reference packages Additional design diagrams A patch submitted by a thoughtful, and anonymous, user with updates for ANSI compliance. There was some difficulty in the new SourceForge file release implementation, but we have them worked out now. Because of the volumes of optional files, Christophe has just reworked the web site. We are starting on framework implementations, begining with Library Load. The analysis and design is available for viewing/commenting from the web pages. -- Frank V. Whooa, with so much activity in this mailing list it is hard to get a word in edgewise. At anyrate, I am descending from the short repair to other concerns that have kept me from a more proactive participation in code updates, doc refreshes, etc. Package and distribution changes are in the works, as per plans and feedback in this group. Upcoming code changes will include: Module (shared library) loading and some more semaphore clean ups. Some questions on semaphore: Semaphore Names --------------- The interface exists, as a noop currently, that would allow you to bind individual semaphores by a collection of characters otherwise known as a Name (ok, who thought I was going to say Kelly's Heros?). This pushes, then, the requirement that the CSA be expanded to manage variable length space requirements (not a problem) and obviously more space for the string. Thoughts? -- Frank V. Added csamon (minor utility for dumming the SemaphoreCommon CSA) Changes to the storage use (subset, combine) as discussed here. Functors on MemoryStorage. Warning: Example code still gets installed. We are working out the best way to deal with this and other upcoming changes. The easiest way to avoid the install is to: ./configure [your options] cd corelinux make install cd ../src/classlib/corelinux make install This will only install the header files and the library. -- Frank V.
