>Well, the Atari Ethernet Cart prototype is somewhat working now. This is very cool! I did play around with that together with Christian a longtime ago but I couldn't get it to work well... I used an embedded-ethernet controller based on the CS8900A chip. What did you use and what's the price? Mine is 10Mbp and did cost about $75.00 excluding shipping... >(3) I am able to ping, but not every ping packet returns. And, when the >ping packets do return it takes approximately 20ms. (Not too bad, really.) No that's pretty good... >(4) I am able to telnet out, but it disconnects after about half a screen >full of text (but this could be because of collisions in half duplex or >the dropped packets). Hmm there are a few things that could cause problems I think. My version with the CS8900A chip was using polling instead of interupts. This way it could work in 8-bit mode. The problem is that on the 8-bit the Antic steals about 30% cpu time and in this time no polling is done. This caused the miss of packets I think. Maybe there is a good way to stop the ethernet controller from recieving data when the processor is halted. Secondly could you send me a schematic of this. I would like to help you by testing it aswell. >Is there a way to force 100full mode? This is very useless I think, 10Mb/half duplex is already hard enough I think... You never can send more then 50Kb/sec max on an 8-bit... would even be slower I think 2 - 5 kb/sec would be max. > >Many thanks to Christian Groessler and to all who have helped so far! > >--Chris Yes Christian I didn't know about this project but seems to go to the right direction. As you know there is now this incredible Flash-cartridge (1Mbyte flash) available. Http://www.atarimax.com my idea was when an ethernet version would be working to make a full software package for such cartridge and build the ethernet controller inside the cartridge aswell :-) |
