in an 'if' statement, the editor will automatically add an extra = sign to any = sign upon pressing space
this happens even if you remember to type 2 == signs, so if you type it correctly, it adds a third one

this may be python itself, but indented trailing white space at the end of a script causes errors often
I haven't been able to narrow down when it does or doesn't happen, if I get the error message again or discover exactly when it happens I'll post it here

search and replace doesn't work within python scripts

you can't '+add script' the way you can '+add event' at the end of a group of events, and you can't right click on an 'event', and 'add sub-script' so you have to right click on the bottom of the entire cap and drag scripts back their location. it's not a big deal on very small caps, but on very large caps, and caps with many actions per event, it gets very cumbersome.
