If you are using Console then you may be interested in Cd Deluxe: http://www.plan10.com/cdd/

It is a drop in replacement for the standard cd ("change directory") command. For example type "cd -" to go back two directories, "cd --" to go back three directories and so on. Type "cd …" or "cd …." to quickly move up the directory stack. Plus there is pattern matching and the ability to jump to the most commonly visited directory. It is a great improvement to the default cd command just like Console is an improvement to the plain windows cmd.exe shell. Take a look and give it a try.

I have been using CD Deluxe for a while and I like it. However, it does not work for me any more.

I get this error on CMD:

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.

I tried reinstalling it, but that did not help. What is going on here?
