I noticed that last night when I made some changes to it. What a royal  
PITA! Definitely not the file format to be using for this...

Done.

It's now doc/architecture.rtf, with associated architecture-figures/*.  
Hopefully that'll work better. I've left it RTF, for now, because I  
still have fantasies about making it nicely formatted and especially  
easy to read. Plus, updated at some point to be more than just  
proposed changes, but actually the current design. :) Which I guess  
it's getting closer to, as we work on the source code, but it's still  
written as proposed changes.
