There is a newer version of this page. You can find it here.

Eight years ago I wanted a standard interface that would allow a C program to work with a decent repertoire for the console in any system.

I searched the web, and couldn't find anything.

So I wrote an interface and three implementations. Two I post on this site, for conio.h and ncurses. My file for MS-DOS is broken at the moment but I will put that up when it is mended.

I believe that a Windows match could be achieved, including the entry. I hate Windows programming so I will not put a hand to this.

I also post a rough and ready test program.

Within a few days I will post a spec.

This is all pretty trivial. But I suspect that it might be useful.

I need a collective to make overall decisions. I think my standard needs revision. Then all the platforms need their interface written and tested.

Please don't expect me to do much work. I don't care, but I would like to see it happen. And my only decision is to let the collective rule.

Please join.
