Alan Firminger

Eight years ago I wanted a standard interface that would allow a C program to work with a decent repertoire for the console in any system.

I searched the web, and couldn't find anything.

So I wrote an interface and three implementations. I post these on this site, for conio.h, MS_DOS and ncurses.

I believe that a Windows match could be achieved, including the entry. I hate Windows programming.

I also post a rough and ready test program.

ci.html is my spec.

This is all pretty trivial. But I suspect that it might be useful.

I would like to assemble a collective to make overall decisions. I think my standard needs to be extended and the names changed. Then all the platforms need their interfaces written and tested. It could be fun, and not a lot of work.

I hope to leave this and get on with other projects. My only decision is to let a collective rule.
