Introduction

Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) provides the ability for one computer to share its Internet connection with another computer. To use Internet Connection Sharing to share your Internet connection, the host computer must have one network adapter that is configured to connect to the internal network, and one network adapter or modem that is configured to connect to the Internet.Microsoft as a feature of its Windows operating system (as of Windows 98 Second Edition and later) for sharing a single Internet connection on one computer between other computers on the same local area network. Internet connection sharing was released as a simple to use feature in Windows 7 Ultimate. Other versions of windows although don’t provide a simple to use GUI, but provide an API to use the functionality exploited by various third party tools like Connectify (Closed Source). Linux provides some of the functionality by using command line. The GUI Method via Network Manager (Ubuntu 9.10 and up) below but there is a bug which turn off and on the share connection. In order to share an Internet connection, the computer that will do the sharing must have two network cards or ports. To do this, a computer with an Internet connection must be configured to function as an Internet gateway. A second computer (or network of computers) connects to the Internet indirectly via the gateway computer.
