and everything else is done by the manufacturer.
Therefore the manufacturer should be linked. For some
products I even must authorize the buy via the Manufacturer
before I buy it from distributor, there are many reasons why
the product should be linked to the manufacturer which is not
the vendor. Also a product could have more than one vendor...

Also that is needed to be able to create sensefull searches
for example to have all printers from one manufacturer. If you
simply have a text field everyone could / would define i.e.
one time HP, next time Hewlett Packard, next time Hewlett
