Comments - Spam

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has any hacks or mods to help stop people spaming with comments.

I've disabled the HTML function on the comments but people still seem to be able to add hundreds....sometimes thousands of spam links.

I'm sure these are added by bots or programs so a simple image verification would do (as much as i hate them)

Does anyone else have any problems with spam?

Hi there.

Best I have found is to install the comment_notify module so at least you get an email every time it happens.

i've got a lot of code to checkin to help with this , but not much time, however i've managed to free a day on monday so ill get it all tidied up and checked in - sorry for the delay

I guess I'm an idiot.  I couldn't find your module that helps with spam.  I was very interested in your captcha method.  Is it a distorted pic?  I probably get about 40 or 50 spam comments a day and am not sure if the email notify method is the best, or is it?

captcha would be the way to go if you are getting that many a day

i've started adding my comments stuff into CVS, ill get it all done and tested as soon as i can.

If anyone stil using comoblog and having problems whit comment spam, i rekomend an php-addon called Open Captcha v1.2

I'm having the same problems and the notify is very helpful in dealing with this.  I took a look and downloaded Chris Craig's Open Captcha, but because it's not in the standard module format dumb guys like me probably won't be able to install it with a lot of help.  Let me know if someone can figure this out.
