i realize folks think this is out of date, but
modernizing might be possible as we incorporate new
Internet standards.

The Media Resource Control Protocol has the same goal
as the hub..

please consider a wrapper for this protocol, as well as
possibly contributing approprate portions of hub design
to the IETF Request For Comments.
