I have downloaded columns4eclipse_1.3.2.zip and eclipse-SDK-3.2-win32.zip.
Fisth, I extract eclipse and I install colums plugin.

Then if I create a new proyect and I try use the column menu, the eclipse sais
"The chosen operation is not currently available"
And if I try view columns in menu windows, show view, other .. columns the windows sais

"Unable to create view: Plug-in de.gmbh.jtiger.columns4eclipse was unable to load class de.gmbh.jtiger.column.view.RecentColumnsView."

What i do?

  I have the same problem. I need to run eclipse under java 1.4.2. The plug-in seem to be compilied without the option to be compatible with jdk 1.4.2. On a other machine I have an eclipse running under jdk1.5 and the problem is solved.
  I hope it will solve your problem to start eclipse with jdk1.5.
