Hi all, I'll start tackling LDAP support this week. I already committed some code t= o finish up the Macro support. The main thing missing is an editor but fo= r now the only thing it'll do is open the script in Your Favourite Editor= (tm). I also dropped the development of a separate filemonitor. The development o= f a good standalone filemonitor was taking too much of my time and, at th= e end of the day, I'm not sure if Columba needs to implement a filemonito= r at all. Which paves the way for my next question: why can't we delete f= iles in CVS? That absolutely sucks :-\ Going back to the LDAP issue, I think Novell as an OSS java library for LDA= P so I'll start from there and let you know of any progress. Cheers, Celso PS: regarding other features, something cool would be for us all to meet on= line one of these days and discuss ideas.=20 -----Original Message----- From: "Frederik Dietz" <ma...@fr...> To: col...@li... There's no need to have a vCard-text-file implementation. Its more important to have nice and complete import/export functionality. Our local xml-backend and the ui already support the complete vCard standard. Only the import/export needs some more time. Actually, all the code is there. We have the complete Columba data model and we have the vCard model from jpim. The only missing thing todo is mapping those together. Please, take a look into the sourcecode and you will notice how easy that actually is. Maybe, you can finish this functionality! Our email/addressbook functionality should be rock solid. This is the foundation the users will use everyday. This is also the reason why they might give "some prototype" a try. Think we are currently heading in the right direction, looking at the polishing features we introduced for the 1.2 release. Thinking of BerkleyDB headercache, Lucene-based full-text indexing, lots of IMAP speed and stability improvements, full vCard support, etc. Cheers, -Frederik ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
