Category: Install Problem (example) Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Problems loading Initial Comment: Hello, I'm a new learner in the Linux area. I've downloaded coLinux files and installed on my Windows XP but I'm having problems getting started. It seems to load up but the logging in prompt does not show. Please help, what I'm I doing wrong? My PC is not networked. What's the best way to get the Linux working, shared or bridged? Please see attached. I feel I'm half way to get it working but something seem to be wrong. And I keep getting the message Network cable unpluged. May be this is due to the network cable being unpluged, as I don't have a network and may have misunderstood the instructions. Thanking you. eve ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Samuel Moffatt (pasamio) Date: 2005-06-16 12:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=757205 One more question, what image are you using and what is your config file? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Samuel Moffatt (pasamio) Date: 2005-06-16 12:39 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=757205 If your PC is not networked, and you have no desire for coLinux to get to the outside world, then using TAP is perhaps the best option to get set up. You should have all of the necessary items downloaded to get to this point if you are using a recent installer. I would suggest that you examine this tutorial (http://wiki.colinux.org/cgi-bin/GettingStartedLong). It is a bit old (for 0.6.1), but it has quite a lot of detail and should help you get on your way. Please note that coLinux is still in development and is perhaps going to be difficult for someone who isn't used to Linux to get configured properly. coLinux has no GUI by default (a GUI can be attained using VNC or XDMCP), and is console only. If you are not comfortable in a console, then I would _strongly_ advise you to install a full blown Linux installation (on its own partition, etc) complete with the graphical tools that modern distros provide. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=622064&aid=1221647&group_id=98788 |
