I'm not sure how to configure the version of Groovy used for that plugin. Is that: http://docs.codehaus.org/display/SONAR/Groovy+Plugin Maybe you can ask in that plugin issue tracker or email the project owner. CodeNarc is built with Groovy 1.7, but that is the minimum version. That being said, new versions of Groovy do occasionally introduce breaking changes in CodeNarc, and that is probably the case with new Java versions as well.. I have not tried using the diamond operator myself yet.
