A far better approach is to run a profiler to find out what is taking the
most execution time.  Lines of code are not equal to each other.

As an example one of my test suites was taking about 10 minutes.  Under
the hood it was hammering a SQLite database a lot.  Changing the test
suite so that the database is on a ramdisk (tmpfs) brought it down to
about 50 seconds.
