Dear David,
here I am having some trouble getting a configuration through magic switch -M
my /etc/cntlm.conf looks like this
Username my_username
Password my_password
Domain kh.klhs.de
Proxy nts-proxy.kh.klhs.de:80
Listen 3128
I don't know my NetBIOS name, since I tap into a network I am not usually connected to using a notebook. But iceweasel browser gets out nicely on the same machine (without me specifying a netbios name), so I assume that part is OK?
The output of cntlm -v -f -M http://test.com looks like this:
Default config file opened successfully
cntlm: Proxy listening on 127.0.0.1:3128
cntlm: Resolving proxy nts-proxy.kh.klhs.de...
cntlm: Using proxy 10.168.1.131:80

You have used wrong credentials, bad URL or your proxy is quite insane,
in which case try submitting a Support Request.
cntlm: Terminating with 0 active threads
Then I tried the manual configurations also specifying the package header as you describe in a wiki - still no success.
Any thoughts?
Thank you in advance!
Sincerely,
Helmut Rathgen
I'm not certain (I was going to file a support ticket myself) but I thought your domain should be a windows domain, like when you login with DOMAIN\username
Which, if I'm right, means your credentials were incorrect.
