What do you mean by front-end? The /examples directory puts a front-end on Sphinx to allow you to feed it live from a microphone or a control file which points to audio samples. The documentation isn't really there, so I'm guessing that this is really what you want. Something to work the engine -- sphinx2-continuous is probably what you want and then change the parameters to feed it data. Hope this is helpful!
