Is it possible to use sphinx for some specific sound detection, e.g sound of a
working car engine? I'm new to sphinx and it looks like it's suited for speech
recognition but is it in any way helpful for sound (not voice) detection? I
know machine learning and pattern recognition are usually used in this
situation but I would like to avoid the whole burden with feature extraction
and classificator training since I'm not so proficient in those fields.
Otherwise maybe you are aware of any alternative libraries?
I develop on android using NDK.

sphinx4 is not supposed to do this stuff. I suggest you to look on marf
