Hi everybody!
I'm doing an application for the Kinect and it would be really great to use
the microphone of the sensor to do a gender recognition. I'm not an expert in
this area, I'm just a student who is pratcticing :)
I googled a bit and Sphinx seems to be the leader between the opensource
project for voice recognition.
According to you it's possible to use it to accomplish my task in a not too
much complex way?
My needs are quite flexible: I can do the recognition also on a fixed
sentence. I just need the binary answer male/female.
Thanks in advance for your help ;)

CMUSphinx is a speech recognition toolkit, not speaker recognition toolkit. It
doesn't support gender detection.
If you are interested in gender detection you need to look for speaker
recognition tool, there are quite many of them in many languages
