I'm a recruiter for engineers & plenty of my candidates can't get jobs, or get below par salary because their English pronunciation is weak.

I have developed over 4 years a CD set of lessons that they repeat parrot fashion words and sentences to make their intonation & accent like the local standard (Australian).
It works!...after 5 hours there are noticeable improvements.

However it is so boring that the candidates tend not to apply themselves.

I want to develope an interactive program where they can score themselves against my words & sentences
    ....like typing tutor.

I want to play my sentences out, record their repeating of it & then come up with a score as to the match.

I know nothing about voice recognition & would welcome anyone who can help or who would like to work on the project with me.

Michael -- you describe a useful application. However, it might be more ambitious undertaking than you think!

The people at Carnegie Speech in Pittsburgh have built a startup company around the same concept (probably for American, rather than Australian English). You might want to talk to the people there (in particular, Maxine Eskenazi). See http://www.carnegiespeech.com/.

      cheers,
      jerry
