I am no expert, but I would guess you're having trouble recording sound (possibly, given the "setduplex" error, Sphinx expects to record in duplex and your sound driver doesn't support that). Can you use a different tool to record sound? If not, that's the first thing to work on. If so, it still might be worthwhile trying a different sound driver to see if that helps.

Thanks for your answer, you were right some problems excists in the audio,
The error is gone by change it simply in the configurationpanel. Directly it
made no difference in reaction of sphinxs I described, so I have been
messing with other things and it seems that in contrary of other recording
programs like Audacity is that sphinx needs a lot off power input.
Now finally I boost up microphone maximally (with an mixer) and almost shouting
closely to the mike it generates output (and even recognizes some things)
But that`s okay for now because at least I know now that it`s working.Thanks.

I installed spinx2 on debian(2.4.20), did sphinx2-test looks ok, then start sphinxs2-simple
in an xterm and ends with,
ioctl(SETDUPLEX) failed:invalid argument
READY....
(Then i try to talk my best English...nothing happends)
Then start sphinx2-demo (in another xterm)it ends with
[initializing]
(try again, probably my English too bad???)
Nothing happends until I close first xterm (with sphinx2-simple)
Then the xterm (with sphinx2-demo) ends with
[silence]
OK truth, never felt so stupid before but what should I expect or do, or what could
be wrong??
