Change sample rate of decoder

I installed PktSphinx per instructions and successfully ran the -inmic and -infile tests. However in trying to substitute a different audio file for the goforward.raw file, I got an error:

" Input audio file has sample rate [8000], but decoder expects [16000] "

How can I tell the decoder to sample at 8K instead of 16K? Or must I build a separate 8K decoder or re-process the original audio to 16K instead of 8?
