hi,

is it possible to select an audio input device for sphinx2 ?

i want to use my usb-headset mic for input.

i first used sphinx2(-continuous) year ago with a bash script to start applications on my linux(debian) laptop. all worked well with the build-in mic.

...time passed, allmost forgot sphinx :)

today i got my (first ever) usb-headset and was very pleased that my linux(ubuntu) regonized/installed it automaticly. and i was able to use the headsets input/output in programs where i could select the correct alsa device (eg. puredata)

then i remembered sphinx :)
apt-got it, and sphinx2-continuous seems to work, but doesnt seem to get any audio input (i dont have a mic for my build-in sound card on my desktop). and sphinx2-continuous doesnt seem to have a flag for selecting which audio input to use, ok, its only an exmaple application...

im not a c-programmer, but looking at the manual and source code, you even cant define which audio device to use (ad_open)?. but then again, i dont even know the difference between "Low-Level Audio Access" and ALSA :)

so, if it is possible to use usb headset mic for sphinx2, i would be VERY pleased for any pointers or even a modified "sphinx2-continuous" :)

cheers
