Hello Evandro, Hello Paul and everyone else...

I can run the HelloWorld in Sphinx4 then on Confidence I get this error.

    Loading Recognizer...

    Sample sentences:

the green one right in the middle
the purple one on the lower right side
the closest purple one on the far left side
the only one left on the left

Refer to the file confidence.test for a complete list.

01:54.109 SEVERE microphone Can't open microphone line with format PCM_SIGNED 16000.0 Hz, 16 bit, mono, 2 bytes/frame, big-endian not supported.
    in edu.cmu.sphinx.frontend.util.Microphone:open-microphone
    Cannot start microphone.

    --------------- Summary statistics ---------

Total Time Audio: 0.00s Proc: 0.00s Speed: 0.00 X real time

what is strange is this happened suddenly after a power down and I completely deleted Sphinx4 again from Eclipse and all references to Ant.
Recompiled and went through the whole delete of unneeded file's in tree and get the same error after making sure that jdk1.5.0 is in the build path, etc.

I have searched this error on this site and found many people with the same error but no help in the answer of worth. My microphone and device drivers are the same in winXPProSP2.

I rack my brains to find the dissimilarity in what worked before and what is different now.

I need help and this seems like it will be such a silly, minor fix.

    Thankyou in Advance,
    Chetanji

Well the problem is fixed. I found corrupted files on the hard drive and have been having strange behavior for some time. So I did a slow format of the hard drive and reinstalled XP Pro SP2 and upgraded to SP3. All is well now. The sphinx program works okay right now.
Sorry for any confusion amongst the readers of this forum.

Some times you have to start over.

      Blessings,
      Chetanji
