Train new language for letter recognition

Hi, first of all I'm new to Sphinx. I'm in a project for recognizing digits
and letters isolated, for Spanish language.

First of all, I'm not sure what's the best approach for creating a new
language. Does this involve training an acoustic model from scratch?

And then, whats the best input for training a system that will only recognize
digits and letters?
