For some reason, Java only saw my first soundcard (as verified with the dump-tool), so trying to select the "last mixer" was exactly the same as using the default. A hotfix that worked for me was to preload the shared object that skype-dsp-hijacker uses to remap the OSS-devices with the main app none the wiser. Details here:
