Machine = AMD 1090T 64bit runing FedoraCore 16.
uname -m x86_64 r=3.1.4-1.fc16.x86_64 s=Linux p=x86_64 there is no -X

I've downloaded and untared. When I run configure I get:
checking host system type...
Invalid configuration x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu': machinex86_64-unknown' not
recognized

I've tried a couple of patch lines - no luck. Pointers please. Thanks

Replace config.sub from the package with the one from your system, it should
work. I can't guarantee that obsolete software will work for you though.
