I have a two-and-a-half hour video of a discussion that I would like to
transcribe. I've downloaded both sphinx3 and sphinx4 and can't figure out how
to get either one to work. I just want to get something I can edit to create a
transcript of the discussion. I've looked at the documentation and tried
things, but when I try to do a wav file converted from a section of the video,
    nothing seems to work.

Is there a simple step-by-step how-to or cookbook for transcribing a long wav
file using either sphinx3 or sphinx4?

    Hello

Yes, transcribing the file is trivial operation

    1. Download and install sphinxbase
    2. Download and install pocketsphinx
    3. Download language model http://keithv.com/software/csr/lm_csr_64k_nvp_3gram.zip
    4. Convert file into 16khz 16bit mono wav file
    5. Transcribe it using pocketsphinx_continuous

    pocketsphinx_continuous -lm lm_csr_64k_nvp_3gram.arpa -infile yourfile.wav >
    yourfile.transcription
