I have compiled from svn, all seems ok.

sphinx2-test gives error cannot open shared object file even running as root, says file not found
/usr/local/lib contains libsphinx2.so.0 and libsphinx2.so.0.0.6
Path contains /usr/local/lib

Suggestions as to what to check next?

    Sphinx2 is obsolete. Use pocketsphinx instead.
