cannot boot Win98, kernel panic
A partition and disk imaging/cloning program

Trying to use Clonezilla to image a backup of an ancient Windows 98 laptop at work to preserve unreplaceable data on the hard drive.
Burned latest clonezilla to CD, booted and got CD boot menu.
I've tried a couple different boot options, and get similar results, always resulting in "kernel panic" errors, as shown in the attached screenshot.
What's going on here that's preventing Clonezilla from launching?
This is related to Linux kernel/hardware support issue. Please try older version of Clonezilla live:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/clonezilla/files/clonezilla_live_stable/
or
https://osdn.net/projects/clonezilla/releases/

Ok, thanks. I'll give that a try.
Any suggestion which version I should try for 10+ year old laptop running Windows 98?
Maybe, you can try to select one from every 2 or 3 years.
