Hi,
First I would of reported this as a bug, but there is no 'Create Ticket' for the bug section.
I have tried two versions, and have the same problems with them;
clonezilla-live-2.3.1-18-amd64
clonezilla-live-2.3.2-22-amd64
I backup and keep my images on a Western Digital My Passport Ultra USB3 2TB drive.
I noticed when I get to the ncurses section, local_image I believe it is, where the console asks you to connect a device and wait 5 seconds for it to be detected, then press enter.
With this hard drive, this does not always work, sometimes I have to restart, or reboot clonezilla and start it over, as many as 3 times to finally get it to detect the hard drive. And then when it doesn't detect it, sometimes this happens, then I start clonezilla with the hard drive already connected.
This is really troublesome having to constantly do this, this always happens, and I don't want to wear out my computer and hardware always having to constantly restart it over several times to get this to work.
I wonder if this is just a problem with these new Western Digital drives, or this happens also with other usb devices?
I hope this can get fixed, this is really needed badly...
thank you
I believe this is Linux kernel to hardware support issue.
Did you try Clonezilla live 20150217-vivid:
http://clonezilla.org/downloads.php
It comes with newer Linux kernel (3.18) so the results might be different.
Steven.
Hi Steven,
3.18x kernels don't like my hardware, seems to be some USB problems with them I encountered, with occasional lockups/panics on boot. So I stay away from anything 3.18x on my box.
3.14x LTS kernels are working the best for me.
With clonezilla-live-2.3.2-22-amd64 today, I had to restart it over like 5 times. :(
Steven, if you could please tell me when a Stable Clonezilla comes out with the 3.19x kernel, I'd appreciate it.
I'm holding out for 3.19x and hopefully it works better on my box as well.
