Hi, So as a cheap man's roll-out solution I have installed Clonezilla live to a partition and customised it so that I may restore or image the other partitions on the machine. I followed the normal docs on how to do this. The only issue I encountered (which had me scratching my head for a couple of days) is that my custom scripts wouldn't appear on the booted Clonezilla. This turned about to be because there was no space left on the live ram image. Then I noticed that the warnings appear with or with-out my scripts (they are tiny). As I've no use for the EFI stuff I simply removed this directory and things leapt into life and my custom scripts were copied appropriately. Is there an easy way of increasing the size of the live ram image? Could a little bit of space be left free for bespoke scripts at creation time? Thanks for any pointers, Cheers, Matt. |

When will you support natively getting image of FreeBSD 9's new filesystem with SUJ ( soft updates with journaling ) ? Thanks. |

It's from Ubuntu: http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric-updates/linux-image We did not modify anything, just use the released kernel from Ubuntu. Steven. Where does the kernel come from? I am trying to figure out why I can't pxe boot the live cd like I used to a year or 2 ago - just now getting around to trying to debug this. I am hoping it is a stock ubuntu kernel, but I couldn't find one with the same md5sum. Or if you know how it was built, and if it has support for mounting / over nfs, that's what I am currently trying to figure out. Hello, I would like to customize clonezilla to set some parameters automatically, how can I do that? Searching for a "step by step" guide/howto 1. Howto build/rebuild squishfs filesystem wihthin a windows system. 2. Which files do I have to change, that clonezilla has a specific static IP Address, etc. Found that and that looks not bad, but have that are only a view things which can handle by the syslinux/grub commandlines..... http://claw.triple6.org/allgemein/modify-clonezilla/ Thomas |

We try to make Clonezilla live iso/zip small. If the programs are not really related to Clonezilla itself, they won't be added. Do you know the size of those files? Are they available on Debian repository? Steven. On 12/08/2011 06:45 PM, Sebastien Douche wrote: > Hi, > I want to use the embedded Python with Clonezilla but many modules are > missing. Thanks for the suggestion. However, since the stats shown on https://sourceforge.net/projects/clonezilla/files/stats/timeline?dates=2011-01-01+to+2011-12-06 is important to us. We still prefer to use the sourceforge download service. > > Thanks! > > p.s. This release of Clonezilla live (1.2.11-23) includes major enhancements and major bug fixes. ENHANCEMENTS and CHANGES The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2011/Nov/28). Linux kernel was updated to version 3.1.1-1. Partclone was updated to version 0.2.38. Gdisk was updated to 0.8.1. A new mode "1-2-mdisks" (one image to be restored to multiple disks) was added in Clonezilla main menu. This is useful for creating massive USB flash drives. Check this: http://drbl.sourceforge.net/screenshot/?in_path=/12_Alvin_Su_Taiwan This release supports VMFS5 imaging and cloning. An option "-pa|--postaction" was added to ocs-onthefly; it can be assigned to reboot or shut down the machine after cloning. Thanks to flyfoxuk for this idea. The option to fsck the source partition will be shown in beginner mode. The grub2 for EFI booting was improved. Now it is able to boot a Mac machine from a USB flash drive with the MBR partition table. The package cpufrequtils was added. The volume name of DOS and NTFS partitions on destination disk will be shown before restoring. Restore related menu, i.e. restoredisk or restoreparts, will only be shown when images exist in image repository. //NOTE// From Clonezilla live 1.2.6-24, if you manage the boot parameters by yourself, you have to put the extra boot parameter "config" or "live-config" to make live-config to work. //NOTE// From Clonezilla live 1.2.6-24, due to the change in Live-boot, the boot parameter to assign static IP address has been changed. The new format is: ip=**[DEVICE]:[CLIENT_IP]:[NETMASK]:[GATEWAY_IP]:[NAMESERVER] [,[DEVICE]:[CLIENT_IP]:[NETMASK]:[GATEWAY_IP]:[NAMESERVER]]***:: e.g. ip=eth0:192.168.100.1:255.255.255.0:192.168.100.254:8.8.8.8,eth1:192.168.101.1:255.255.255.0:: BUG FIXES A bug in the option "-k1" was fixed. A bug where NFS 4 might have been automatically used after assigning the NFS version 2/3 protocol when mounting an NFS image repository was fixed. If the "system reserved partition" of MS Windows 7 or Vista is found when restoring with the option "-k1" enabled, this partition won't be enlarged to prevent boot failures. A bug about failing to clone NTFS partitions on the AMD64 version of Clonezilla live was fixed. Then something on your system is defective. Normally the BIOS initializes and unlocks the drive. It could be worked around in clonezilla with a custom built CD and some script that unlocks/resets/whatever the drive but at the point the drive is locked the firmware in the drive might be completely locked up requiring full power cycle to respond to any commands. It might be that Linux triggers some bug in your drive's firmware which has happened in the past with some drive models. I don't think this is a clonezilla specific issue, though. Thanks Michal |

Some recent versions of Debian use kexec to 'reboot' which might have some unexpected sideeffects. Does pressing the hardware reset button unlock the drive? Thanks Michal |

If I open DVD drive and remove CD as soon as everything was copied to RAM and Clonezilla started doing its job, everything is fine. Then I tried this. I waited until Clonezilla completed and brought up its final menu - Restart, Reboot, Shutdown, etc. I selected Reboot and right after that attempted to open the drive. At this point I found the drive dead locked as I described in my first post. I do not remember how it happened at the first time, but I guess we can quite safely assume, I made the same mistake. I would agree that it was quite silly of me not to remove the CD before that point. However it happened to me to do the same mistake with previous versions and I never get the drive locked. |

I would suspect the DVD drive itself but it's a brand new one and otherwise works just fine. BTW, used with Clonezila LiveCD in default mode, that is running from drive, CD is ejected by Clonezilla without any problems. I should admit it happened to me one time (and the first time) only and I simply avoided to run it from RAM since then. So, I'm not sure it is something persistent. I'll try it today and let you know. Thanks for responding. |

How about give Clonezilla live 1.2.11-11 or 20111025-oneiric a try? These 2 versions have some improvement that you can just unzip the zip file in a GPT or MBR USB flash drive, then boot it on a Mac machine. Steven. I used to run all versions of Clonezilla LiveCD before 1.2.10-14, both i686 and amd64, from RAM. When I run version 1.2.10-14 this way and after completion selected Reboot option, it dead locked my DVD drive. The soft reboot (Ctl-Alt-Del) left me in the same position. The only way to open the drive and to take off CD was to use an Emergency Open button - that little hole on the drive beneath a tray. Otherwise, since the CD was locked within, I kept booting into Clonezilla environment again and again. To return the drive to normal working conditions after this required to power PC off and then to power it on again. The described happened using amd64 LiveCD. There is plenty of RAM on the PC - 8G. After this I simply did not dare to try running this way i686 version as well, so I do not know if it exhibits the same behaviour. Has anybody else experienced such a problem? Is it a bug in Clonezilla amd64 v. 1.2.10-14? Should I report it? |

Hi, I am trying to use Clonzilla Live 20110922 Natty to image an Xserve 3,1 running OS X 10.6.8, however, I am unable to select the CD as a boot device. This release of Clonezilla live (1.2.10-14) includes major enhancements and major bug fixes. ENHANCEMENTS and CHANGES: * The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2011/Sep/22). * Linux kernel was updated to version 3.0.0-3. * Partclone was updated to version 0.2.29. * Gdisk was updated to version 0.8.0, and compiled without Unicode support. Therefore libicu44 is no longer included. This makes the Clonezilla live ISO file smaller by about 6 MB. * Package partclone-utils was added. * iPXE was updated to the date 20110910 from iPXE Git repository. * German language files were added. Thanks to Michael Vinzenz. * By default when a GNU/Linux system is restored, the udev hardware records (70-persistent-cd.rules and 70-persistent-net.rules under /etc/udev/rules.d/) in the restored OS will be removed. This can be disabled in the expert mode with the option "-irhr". * Source tarball for all the packages in Clonezilla live was added. It can be found in the release repository, under the directory "source". * A new live boot parameter was added: nicif. This parameter is used to assign the network card's MAC address so that when it is booted via PXE, the correct network card can be assigned specifically. This is for a machine with 2 or more network cards. Example for this boot parameter: nicif=aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff. * //NOTE// From Clonezilla live 1.2.6-24, if you manage the boot parameters by yourself, you have to put the extra boot parameter "config" or "live-config" to make live-config to work. * //NOTE// From Clonezilla live 1.2.6-24, due to the change in Live-boot, the boot parameter to assign static IP address has been changed. The new format is: ip=**[DEVICE]:[CLIENT_IP]:[NETMASK]:[GATEWAY_IP]:[NAMESERVER] [,[DEVICE]:[CLIENT_IP]:[NETMASK]:[GATEWAY_IP]:[NAMESERVER]]***:: e.g. ip=eth0:192.168.100.1:255.255.255.0:192.168.100.254:8.8.8.8,eth1:192.168.101.1:255.255.255.0:: BUG FIXES * Sgdisk failed to reload a GPT table if no initial GPT table on a new disk. * Boot parameter parsing has been improved to accept grub2 1.99's mechanism. It now works for three cases in /proc/cmdline (e.g., (1) ocs_prerun="sleep 5" (2) ocs_prerun=\"sleep 5\" and (3) "ocs_prerun=sleep 5").
