This release of Clonezilla live (2.0.1-15) includes minor enhancements and bug fixes. *** ENHANCEMENTS and CHANGES *** * The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2012/Dec/17). * Linux kernel was updated to 3.2.35-1. * Module floppy was listed in the blacklist. The floppy is normally useless but if it exists, it might cause the disk detection delay. If floppy is required, a user still can run "modprobe floppy" to load it. * Catalan language was added. Thanks to René Mérou and Innocent De Marchi. * Language file de_DE, it_IT, fr_FR, ja_JP.UTF-8, zh_CN and zh_TW were updated. Thanks to Michael Vinzenz, Gianfranco Gentili, Jean-Francois Nifenecker, Akira YOSHIYAMA, and Zhiqiang Zhang. *** BUG FIXES *** * Force to run command "partprobe" after local disk is inserted in prep-ocsroot. Thanks to neikalo for reporting this issue (https:// sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=3592776&group_id=115473&atid=671650). * To avoid a grub1 on ext4 issue, running the grub-install from the restored OS should be tried first. If fails, then using the grub1 on the running OS. * The description for the option "-r" of ocs-sr and ocs-onthefly was polished. Thanks to auroracore. * The -k option of ocs-iso and ocs-live-dev should be updated since now keyboard layout boot parameter from live-config is used. * Boot parameter "utc=no" did not work in Clonezilla live. Thanks to rogerja for reporting this issue. * The batch_mode on the server is nothing to do with that on the client in the program ocs-onthefly. Thanks to kevluck373 for reporting this issue (https://sourceforge.net/projects/clonezilla/forums/forum/663168/topic/6188724). * Keyboard layout prompt in "recovery-iso-zip" was fixed. * MBR partition table should not be larger than 2 TiB (2.2 TB). A checking mechanism was added in ocs-expand-mbr-pt to avoid going on. This release of Clonezilla live (2.0.1-5) includes minor enhancements and bug fixes. *** ENHANCEMENTS and CHANGES *** * The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2012/Nov/26). * Linux kernel was updated to 3.2.32-1. * Package drbl was updated to 2.1.34-drbl1, and clonezilla was updated to 3.1.22-drbl1. The new paths for the files in these two packages are in /usr/sbin, /usr/bin, /usr/share/drbl/sbin, and /usr/share/drbl/bin. No more under /opt/drbl/. Hence, the new pre-run and post-run paths are /usr/share/drbl/prerun/ocs/ and /usr/share/drbl/postrun/ocs/, respectively. * A KMS mode was added in the boot menu. * Partclone was updated to 0.2.56. * Packages tcplay and mpg123 were added. * Boot parameter "ocs_lang" is now replaced by "locales" from live-config. * Boot parameter "ocs_live_keymap" is now replaced by "keyboard-layouts" from live-config. * Boot parameters "echo_ocs_prerun" and "echo_ocs_postrun" were added. This can be used to disable echoing the ocs_prerun and ocs_postrun command. * An option to use "autohostname" to create the image name was added. Thanks to tererecool (David Bauer) for this idea. * The command to save an image will be saved in the image dir as file Info-saved-by-cmd.txt. * Another partition table file, e.g. sda-pt.parted.compact, will be saved in image dir when saving an image. It's easier for human to read. * //NOTE// From Clonezilla live 1.2.6-24, if you manage the boot parameters by yourself, you have to put the extra boot parameter "config" or "live-config" to make live-config to work. * //NOTE// From Clonezilla live 1.2.6-24, due to the change in Live-boot, the boot parameter to assign static IP address has been changed. The new format is: ip=**[DEVICE]:[CLIENT_IP]:[NETMASK]:[GATEWAY_IP]:[NAMESERVER] [,[DEVICE]:[CLIENT_IP]:[NETMASK]:[GATEWAY_IP]:[NAMESERVER]]***:: e.g. ip=eth0:192.168.100.1:255.255.255.0:192.168.100.254:8.8.8.8,eth1: 192.168.101.1:255.255.255.0:: *** BUG FIXES *** * A better mechanism was implemented to decide the restored OS is using grub 1 or 2. Thanks to Robert Weir for reporting this issue on Fedora 17 restoring. * The *.mod files for grub2 are not fixed in the path /boot/grub/. It could be in /boot/grub/i386-pc/. Function install_grub_hd failed in this case. * Program ocs-lvm2-stop did not work on Ubuntu Linux due to the udevd rules 85-lvm2.rules from Ubuntu. * The function install_grub_hd in ocs-live-dev should skip checking the boot loader on the USB flash drive, because it might be new, empty one. * To avoid the KMS and vmwgfx conflict issue (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=686939), some blacklist boot parameters were added. * The VOL_LIMIT for splitting image file could not larger than 20000000000000. Ref: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=671650&aid=3567350&group_id=115473 * Saving mode should enable ncurse interface by default, too. Otherwise it's confusing. * Program run-parts is confusing, there now we use drbl-run-parts. * The description using space key to mark the selection for disk to disk clone is not required. Thanks to sabrehagen (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=671650&aid=3552271&group_id=115473). -- Steven Shiau <steven _at_ nchc org tw> <steven _at_ stevenshiau org> National Center for High-performance Computing, Taiwan. http://www.nchc.org.tw Public Key Server PGP Key ID: 4096R/47CF935C Fingerprint: 0240 1FEB 695D 7112 62F0 8796 11C1 12DA 47CF 935C |

hi, guys: I'm new in clonezilla live. We have 100 pc with the same hardwares. All installed win7 on partition C. we want to install ubuntu on all those pc. So we install ubuntu on one pc, then use clonezilla to save the ubuntu partition as an image. Then we boot other pc into clonezilla live, using the command: sudo /opt/drbl/sbin/ocs-sr -g auto -e1 auto -e2 -c -r -j2 -k -p true restoreparts 2012-11-22-15-img-person-ubuntu sda7 to restore the ubuntu. After it finished, the ubuntu can run, but the win7 can not boot anymore. I found that clonezilla change the BCD on partition C, so win7 cannot run. after I run the win7pe to autofix the BCD, win7 can run again. So, my question is: Is it possible not to change the BCD when I restore the ubuntu? further more, why clonezilla want to change BCD? what it change? thanks, Best Regard. manjusaka~ |

Hi, first use of clonilla on usb, my usb is on device /dev/sdd : /media/7737-F42A/utils/linux$ sudo bash makeboot.sh /dev/sdd "/dev/sdd" is NOT a valid partition name! Yes, that's an issue. The way Clonezilla creates such a recovery iso is to use the original filesystem.squashfs from the normal copy of Clonezilla live. In your case, it's more complicated. You can try to put your postrun script in filesystem.squashfs by: http://drbl.org/faq/fine-print.php?path=./2_System/81_add_prog_in_filesystem-squashfs.faq#81_add_prog_in_filesystem-squashfs.faq then replace it. Hello, I copied my script in /opt/drbl/share/drbl/postrun/ and tested by run-parts --test /opt/drbl/share/drbl/postrun and it returned my script and without --test ran it. I ran ocs-live and continued it in export mode -> recovery-iso-zip -> Select image -> ask_user -> and mark -o1 (postrun switch) and to end. The problem starts here, after restoring of image, postrun notification comes(yellow message) but my script doesn't run and /opt/drbl/share/drbl/postrun is empty! Furthermore I did chmod +x or chmod 755, but It doesn't work. Farhad |

Hi guys, Clonezilla uses debian-for-live-ocs.iso as template to make restore-iso, I want remaster that debian iso and add my apps to it, but squashfs can't uncompress filesystem.squashfs file, it returns error. I have tested ubuntu-live-for-ocs too but It's same: $unsquashfs filesystem.squashfs Parallel unsquashfs: Using 4 processors zlib::uncompress failed, unknown error -3 read_block: failed to read block @0x55c2aa6 read_fragment_table: failed to read fragment table index FATAL ERROR aborting: failed to read fragment table I checked the filesystem.squashfs of official ubuntu, it works well. Where I can find the source of this debian image?(it's customized for clonezilla) where I can find the script that makes this image? Farhad |

Hello, I'm trying to image a HP Proliant 360 G3 with a Smart Array 5i controller. So I'm using the latest version of CZ and I went to Device-image and it shows me 2 different entries. The physical drive (device) /dev/sda1 and then also another NTFS drive that shows two partitions the C: and D: drives with their respective sizes. Which one should I backup to get the whole drive? Sorry I'm new to CZ and appreciate any help. Have a great weekend, J |

So you have checked this URL? http://clonezilla.org/livehd.php If so, could you show us more outputs on the screen? You can take a photo then post it. BTW, maybe it's because the kernel can not find the harddrive, so you'd better to give the latest Clonezilla live a try, e.g. 1.2.12-67 or 20120620-precise. Steven. Hi, sorry for the lame questions ahead; I've never used clonezilla before and I'd like to get some info in advance. (I did browse the FAQ and the rest of the website first.) I have to transfer the contents of a single source disk to another disk: # lsblk -o NAME,FSTYPE,MOUNTPOINT,LABEL,SIZE,TYPE /dev/sda NAME FSTYPE MOUNTPOINT LABEL SIZE TYPE "FSAVAIL" sda 465.8G disk |-sda1 ext3 RHEL5-64-/ 20G part 15G |-sda2 LVM2_member 300G part | |-VolGroup0-VG0swap (dm-0) swap [SWAP] 8G lvm | |-VolGroup0-VG0home (dm-1) ext3 /home 64G lvm 51G | |-VolGroup0-VG0varlibxen (dm-2) ext3 128G lvm 53G | |-VolGroup0-VG0varliblibvirtimages (dm-3) ext3 /var/lib/libvirt/images 50G lvm 44G | `-VolGroup0-VG0filestore (dm-4) ext3 /filestore VG0filestore 50G lvm 31G |-sda3 ext3 RHEL5-32-/ 20G part 13G |-sda4 1K part |-sda5 ext3 / RHEL6-64-/ 19.1G part 13G |-sda6 ext3 RHEL6-32-/ 19.1G part 14G |-sda7 19.1G part `-sda8 19.1G part There's about 51G free space (unpartitioned) at the end of the drive. The "FSAVAIL" column was added manually by yours truly, using "df -h". sda7 and sda8 are Linux partitions, but unformatted. (1) Is this layout fully supported by Clonezilla Live 1.2.12-60? (I intend to use the Debian-based stable release). Does it matter if a logical volume is "linear" (ie. one contiguous chunk in a PV) or not? (2) How much space am I going to need approximately, before compression? I reckon Clonezilla will copy the partitioning / LVM metadata, and the non-free blocks in the ext3 filesystems I have. So about 136 GB in total. Does that seem correct? (3) I'd like to specify a non-default compression method, eg. pigz. Where do I pass the "--smp-gzip-compress" option? (4) The receiving end will be an adjacent SSH server. Can I make sure, from the Clonezilla side, that the ssh connection itself won't use compression or a CPU-hungry cipher? (aes128-cbc is good for me, for example.) I could do this on the Clonezilla side, by editing "$HOME/.ssh/config" before the ssh connection is started. Is this supported? (5) After the backup process finishes, can I somehow verify the archive's integrity / completeness (without a full restore)? The source disk will be irrevocably gone at "real restore" time. Good point. I think we have to find a way to deal with boot loader in the partition, not the MBR. This function should let "-g auto" can automatically detect it, and run it. If grub is installed on /dev/sda1/boot/grub when cloned, shouldn't it be there when restored, too? (so we don't have to fix grub every time we restore an image?) Besides whaever reason Mark has for not wanting it in the MBR, putting grub in the MBR breaks Dell's MBR, which redirects the MediaDirect button from power-off to boot a custom version of CyberLink's PowerCinema (lets you watch DVDs without loading windows and all its services), and having grub in the MBR also prevents Windows7 service packs from installing. |

Hi Floris, Thanks! I will check this, however, it might take time since we need to find some hardware. Steven. Hi Steven, I had thought that Clonezilla would install grub to the partition I specified (sda1) after restoring the image to the disk. That is why I used the option '-g /dev/sda1'. It seems that the option '-g auto' works, but it installs grub to the MBR and that's not what I want. However, I have written a script to install grub to sda1 post-restore, which works OK. In that case I leave out the -g option in the osc-sr command line. Thanks, Mark On 20/04/12 13:05, clo...@li... wrote: > > > "-g /dev/sda1" means > /dev/sda1 is the partition where /boot/grub exists. > It does not mean the MBR. > In you case, try not to use "-g /dev/sda1", i.e. > /opt/drbl/sbin/ocs-sr -e1 auto -e2 -c -r -j2 -k -p true -t > restoreparts 2012-04-05-13-img sda1 > > Steven. > > On 2012/4/11 ?? 05:16, Mark Ellerby wrote: >> Hi, >> >> I am using clonezilla-live to backup a linux OS to an image, then >> restore it to another hard disk.
