in the university, we have an installation of about 10 personnal computers.
All have really the same characteristics in term of hardware and operating system (RedHat 7.7).
Each one has also an extractible drawer for the HDD boot disk.
With clonezilla-live-2.6.4-10-amd64, I made a backup of one PC.
I removed one HDD from one PC, installed it inside the docking station (while connected to the laptop), restored the image on it and then, reconnect the HDD to the source PC.
When reinstalled, the RedHat does not boot correctly and finally drops to dracut.
When I try to restore the clonezilla image while directly connected to the PC, the RedHat boots correctly.
As a first approach, I see that the initramfs file has been changed by clonezilla.
Does anybody knows why this does not work? I think that clonezilla has changed some files in order to adapt to the laptop hardware; if yes, please tell me if it is possible to avoid this?
best regards.
Claude

please... No explanation ?
In my mind, restoring to an hard disk would copy the image contents without distorsion. Without taking into account the computer hardware ressources.
Am I right?
If it is not the case, is there a Clonezilla option that allow to do this?

My idea consists to use a laptop (with a different hardware) and an USB docking station connected to it: https://www.startech.com/HDD/Docking/usb-3-universal-hdd-ssd-dock~UNIDOCKU33.
This laptop has the objective to be used as a maintainer computer.

Sorry for the late response.
Please try to enable the option "-iui" in the expert mode.
