Source disk is 256gb (ssd)
Target disk is 250gb (ssd)
I'm trying to clone the Source disk to the the Target disk but the error message of Target Disk is Too Small is presented and CL shuts down.
I've read various complicated solutions but am quite confused on how to solve this.
No, I don't want to purchase additional disks to match the size of the Source disk.
All I'm trying to accomplish is get a fully functional disk copy so that in the event of a crash I can simply swap disks and be operational again....quickly.
Any ideas?
Thank you

Yes, great, PDA. The -icds switch ('don't check target drive size') seems to be the crux of it.
For those not understanding the English being used here, after choosing [sic] the EXPERT mode and going through the disk choices PDA describes, where he says
'Check off first 5 options',
...we should ensure that they are ON, that the asterisks are in fact showing for those five options (their default state in my experience).
Similarly, the -icds switch should have its asterisk showing, i.e. ON.
The check off usage comes from marking a list of items with a tick or a cross, checking then dismissing those items present so as to make outstanding those items yet to be addressed. Americans, USAsians, have picked up the dismissing from a list as 'checking off', the marking of valid items thus removing them from attention, and so created a contranym, confusing us all. Such is life.
Note that PDA was cloning from a 256 GB SSD to a smaller 250 GB one, a possibly unusual activity. And he had success.
In my case, Clonezilla was refusing to clone from a small to a large disk, a fairly common operation, I'd think. EXPERT and -icds did solve the matter - BUT, following PDA's advice, it made an exact replica of my source disk leaving a large quantity of space unallocated, unused, inaccessible, on my target. I'd say that this is because of the 'proportional' option PDA left ON with an asterisk.
As I want all my larger target to be used, I'll have to run the operation again to have Clonezilla spread the partitions over the entire new larger space. (If that's wrong, I'll report here.)
Finally, after trying PDA's method but with the helpful 'large font' and 'RAM' first option, for my comfort, C/z failed. By accident, when I tried the process again, before I returned to the keyboard, C/z's main menu timed out, defaulting to PDA's recommended choice ('on disk', from memory) and the whole operation completed successfully - properly identifying my target's name & size, for instance. So note that.
IT would be nice to have a Partitionzilla program to delete and resize nuisance partitions on my target, but at the moment I can't think of one that's available.
HTH, and thanks.

Figured out how to do it;
Start clonezilla in usual way (I'm using a usb stick for a CL live version)
device-device work directly from a disk
Perform usual steps up to----then chose EXPERT
disk to local disk......disk clone
Select Source- Source drive
Select Destination- Destination drive
Menu- Clonezila on-the-fly advanced extra parameters
Check off first 5 options
Check off -icds
Next menu- Use the Partition Table from the source disk
Remaining steps are the shut down option and then WARNING messages.
I've done the clone 3 times and it worked perfectly.
Gerat. Thanks for your feedback and sharing that.
