    Hello,

I would like to backup my system to avoid the headache of a broken system.

I am so new, I dont know where to begin.

I use the manjaro OS and see clonezilla in the rep. But the information does not tell me if it is the live version or the network version. I expect the former.

I think it would be best for me to backup to a DVD-RW, but I need advice, and how to proceed

    Thanks

It's probably the easiest to create a bootable Clonezilla Live USB stick. Personally, I use tuxboot for this, in which you can select the Clonezilla Live version you want, after which it downloads the corresponding ISO and installs it on the selected USB stick (it doesn't format the stick, so you might want to do that yourself before running tuxboot). You can get tuxboot from here: https://tuxboot.org/download/.

Or use one of the other options to create a bootable USB stick, as described here: https://clonezilla.org/liveusb.php

Then it is just a matter of booting the system you want to create an image from using the bootable USB stick and follow the instructions. There are some step-by-step examples on the following page which might help you: https://clonezilla.org/clonezilla-usage/clonezilla-live-usage.php

Personally I have never written an image to DVD-RW, so not sure how that works (if even possible). You can also use an external harddisk to store the image on, or a large USB stick. It really depends on the amount of data your system contains. Clonezilla uses compression, though, which keeps the images relatively small. But a clean Windows 10 installation can create an image larger than 15GB, for example.
