Compact image prototype for restoring to smaller disks
Hello Steven and the Clonezilla community,
An old friend is sharing a prototype that shrinks the filesystem when the image is created, so the same image can restore to disks of different sizes. The restore checks the destination first and reports the minimum size if it won’t fit.
The Linux test compacted a 192 MiB GPT/ext4 disk image to 82 MiB, then restored it to a 112 MiB image. The file contents matched and the filesystem checks passed. The patch also includes WinPE and macOS examples and integration notes for LVM with and without encryption. Those workflows still need platform testing.
The patch and Traditional Chinese technical handoff are attached. The patch also includes English documentation and steps to reproduce the test. Feedback from the community is welcome.
