A few days ago I cloned my 250GB disk to a 320GB disk (as it had to be the same size or larger and I didn't have another identically sized disk) as a backup and tested the 320GB disk to make sure that it booted (which it did).
I've just broken the partitioning on the 250GB by trying to shrink the LVM partition and getting the numbers wrong.
So, I'm trying to restore my backup back to the original disk - Clonezilla complains about the 320GB being bigger than the 250GB (well yes it is, but it contains the clone of the 250GB). I have selected the icds option to ignore the disk size. Since I am restoring it back to the exact same disk that was cloned, is that the correct way to restore a backup clone to the original disk?
In this scenario will it perfectly restore the first 250GB of the 320GB disk which was written from the 250GB disk? I would appreciate that two nominally 250GB disks might not be appropriate (depending whether some manufacturers have subtly different capacities all described as 250GB) but in this scenario where it is going back to the exact same disk from where it was backed up, I am hoping that it will work perfectly.
If this is not the best way to use Clonezilla to backup a working OS so that it can be subsequently restored what should I do?

Especially the method 2.

Oh, if your source disk is broken, then you can try to restore the image to a virtual machine. Then follow the above to make that.
