Installed Clonezilla SE on Ubuntu 12.04 server. Everything appears tobe running correctly. When I pxe boot the client, it brings up the menu but the keyboard only sort of works - at first I can use the arrow keys to select options, but then the arrow keys just stop working and if I press up or down it switches to a dark screen with Ubuntu and four circles under it. This happens on all clients machines (tried a couple of dells, HP laptops etc). The keyboard never seems to work correctly. I was able to just keep hitting enter and made a backup of the hard drive, cannot switch to restore or change the name of the backup even.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you upgrade Ubuntu 12.04 to the latest status?
After that, remember to follow http://drbl.org/installation/#upgrade
to upgrade DRBL, too.
Or you can try this mode: http://drbl.org/installation/#upgrade
It might work since the client will run on Clonezilla live, and accept the command from Clonezilla SE (DRBL).
Steven.

I'm not sure if your problem is related: if you need azerty layout, think to use Latin-9 from "~Select from full list~" option. (Found this in Known issues page)

Yeah thats correct. 12.04 server with DRBL 2.4.19.
It doesn't like keyboard inputs AT ALL. When i press the arrow keys it goes into ubuntu with the 3 dots at the bottom and boots the client into ubuntu.
The only workaround is by pressing the first letter of the menu to go to the options.
Such as, if i want to restore a disk, i have to press R about 4 times on the client for it to be selected, then press enter about 4 times to go to the next option etc.
Very weird.
Can you help?
Thanks

I'm using Ubuntu 13.04 and DRBL 2.4.19, but it only occurs with Clonezilla SE on, so far, a Dell Optiplex 960 and a Dell XPS 14 L421x. Optiplex 740s work. Right now I'm working around the issue by using Clonezilla Live to connect to the Clonezilla server and use the images over the network.

Michel,
We can not reproduce the problem here. We also use Ubuntu 12.04 as the server when teaching DRBL training courses.
Is your DRBL client hardware different from that of server?
If so, what's the difference? Please describe more.
Thanks.
Steven.

Of course not. The info I need is find a way to reproduce the problem here. It could be some issue about the service of udevd or something else. Just can not reproduce the problem here therefore so far I still can not fix this issue.
I will try to do more tests today here.
Steven.

Do i just run drbl-bug-report from terminal on the server?
Also im using a Optiplex 780 Dell as the server and all the client machines are also dell. Some machines with Broadcom devices dont load the pxe menu, but the same machines with same NIC load the PXE menu.
I will get a video and youTube it with the problems we (The company) are having and link you to it from here with the problems and run the debug report also.
Thanks,
Michel

Also having this problem. At first it was fixed by doing a clean install of Ubuntu and DRBL on the server but it's happening again with a laptop.

Rui, Michael,
Is your problem on Ubuntu 12.04 with drbl 2.4.19?
Please let me know so that I can reproduce the problem here.

What did you mean by "current drbl"? Could you show the specific version number?
Steven.
Hi Steven, how can I check it? Thanks
Hi Ricardo,
I have the same problem. Some laptops just get stuck on the DHCP screen and doesn't budge.
P.S Steven works been hectic will get the videos and debug script over to you sometime in the next 24-48 hours.

Does the server hardware need to be the same as the clients'? That doesn't make sense to me, sort of defeats the purpose.
Of course not. The info I need is find a way to reproduce the problem here. It could be some issue about the service of udevd or something else. Just can not reproduce the problem here therefore so far I still can not fix this issue.

BTW, could you please run: "drbl-bug-report" and post the generated file? It would be easier for me to reproduce the issue here.
Steven.
Again, could you guys take a photo about the last screen shown on client's monitor?
Thanks.
Steven.
