So I am having issues with new hardware and wanted to formalise troubleshooting steps.
First off I wanted to note my prefered way to use clonezilla is via pxe boot
because I have a method of copying multiple versions of clonezilla and adding boot options to try the various versions.
The other day I got a new Dell laptop and it did not support legacy boot thus I took the time to learn how to do UEFI PXEv4 so that I don't need USB sticks with me.
However during troubleshooting it may be necissary to use a USB stick to diagnose what might be going wrong.
For new hardware:
1st) try your standard method of using clonezilla. Always good if you can use the latest stable release.
2nd) if that fails try the fail safe option on the latest stable see if that works.
3rd) dowload and try the testing version.
4th) testing version in fail safe.
5th) look on the forum for your model laptop see if there are notes on how to get it working.
6th) google for know issues with the make/model in linux
