I have created a bootable usb drive with clonezilla. when booting on my Mac
the first menu is visible with the screen resolution options.
Which every option I Choose the screen hangs and nothing else happens.
I have had this before and got it to work but don't remember what I did.I hg
I am using a wired USB Keyboard as that was an issue I had previously too.
Which version of Clonezilla live did you use? Which model of Mac do you have?
Have you tried the latest stable release, i.e., Clonezilla live 2.6.1-25 or 20190420-disco: https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php

Since I do not have new MacBook pro here, I can only test an old one (2010). It's 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB RAM. I can boot Clonezilla live 2.6.1-25 amd64, and enter Clonezilla live main menu.
What's your MacBook Pro model?
Thanks.

I am having the same issues. I tried different versions of clonzilla. Everytime I select the resolution it just sits on the splash screen. Tried using a logitech and a HP keyboard, but the issue still happens. I am trying to capture an image of a surfaceGO device, so I am using a usb 3.0 hub to run clonezilla via USB. Any assistance or direction would be greatly appreciated

Yes, I have tried both of those releases, and they both gave me the same
issue, with the process getting stuck after I select the resolution. I
simply just goes to the splash screen.

Maybe your hardware is too new... There are newer grub existing in Debian and Ubuntu repositories, i.e., grub 2.04. I will create a testing Cloinezilla live (> 2.6.2-15 or 20190717-eoan) these days and put it on https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php
Maybe that will help.

Never had a Mac, but when i have had similar issues booting LINUX on PCs, two differents solutions usually worked:
1.) ssh to the box. The IP address lease should be in the dhcp server.
2..) CTRL+ALT+f2

I know this is an old thread, but for googlers: with newer macs (with T2 chip) you may have to go into the startup security utility and allow a "no security" boot for Clonezilla, as discussed here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208330

Found this old thread and might probably help me. I'm experiencing the same thing but on a Dell Precision 5550 laptop. At first it won't even boot up, but after turning off Secure Boot, it finally boot up but stuck on the splash screen. Not sure what else need to turn off in BIOS. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Normally you do not need to tune BIOS except you have to make it boot from USB flash drive or CD.

Have you tried different USB flash drive or on different machines? Sometimes it's hardware issue.

I tried both alternate stable and stable versions of debian and ubuntu as suggested on this page. https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php still having the same issues.
I'm using a uEFI flash drive and this has been working for most of the dell 74xx series laptop we have (I don't think the ones we have are legacy BIOS)...I just encountered this on the new Precision 5550 which uses the uEFI secure boot...Turned that off and still stuck on the splash screen...

In that case, maybe the grub does not work for your new hardware.
How about giving Clonezilla live 2.6.8-12 or 20200922-groovy amd64 version a try? https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php
The grub should be newer so it might help.

Hey Steven! Coming here with an update mentioning I have the same problem.
I have a Steam Deck (LCD) using OS 3.5.7 and I wanted to use Clonezilla to make a clone of the internal SSD (of 512GB) to a new external SSD (of 1TB). I have used Rufus to make a bootable USB stick (of 256GB) containing the .iso of the latest stable version of Clonezilla.
After I enter the BIOS on the Steam Deck and I choose to boot from the USB stick, Clonezilla opens up with the menu (white background and orange logo) but the entire image is tilted 90 degrees. Ignored this tilt and proceeded to press "enter" on the first option (Clonezilla live VGA 800x600) and then after about 10-15 seconds I get a black screen with a blinking underscore on the top left. I've waited 10min and nothing happens.
Tried the other .iso version of Clonezilla (testing) and everything is the same. Tried with alternative stable and on that it just gets stuck on the white screen with orange logo after I press on the first option.
Do you possibly have any idea what would cause this and what solutions could there be? Thank you!

OK so I managed a workaround 😁..
I didn't realize that clonezilla was just a software package like any other until I read it somewhere.
Now since my Kali live with persistence was already working , it was as simple as apt-get install clonezilla 👍 & excuted all good from my terminal in kali live saving my backup of the machine on external USB drive and all clonezilla checks went well..
If I can only find a way to make the kali live install persistent 😜
Thanks for the nice software guys 🙏✊🏼
