Create a new image and this time use Expert mode and select the option to automatically check the source disk for errors before saving the image. I have had to do this even on a clean source disk but it seems to work for me. Good luck.

I created a disk image of the system SSD of an Ubuntu system.
Creating the image finished with no errors.
When trying to restore the image into a larger disk received error.
