I imaged a machine that has a 320GB drive. I actually made two images, one a disk image, and the second a partition image.
Both machines have like drives, same model number, so I thought that I would try the to restore the partition image first. However, the machine that I was restoring to had another OS on it, and the restore failed with an error telling me that a partition was to small. I booted on a rescue CD and blew away the original partition table. I rebooted with Clonezilla and tried to restore with the partition image. Same issue, the restored image would not boot. I tried in expert mode, ensuring that the master boot record was in place. Same issue, it would not boot. I finally tried to restore the disk image that I made. Once again, it does not boot, only a blank screen.
Is the original image(s) not valid, or did something go wrong when I orignally tried to restore when the other OS was installed? Thoughs suggestions?
Thank you.
Daryl
UPDATE:
I posted this question to soon. I did a restore on the boot partition only, and this time it booted to the OS just fine.
Thank you.
