    Imak Sys - 2011-06-15

    Greetings:

This combines information from both Clonezilla Server and Clonezilla Live. My "necessary" goal is to be able to create a merged ISO or USB flash drive which will allow us to have technicians at remote sites run installations on new hardware with limited knowledge of building and configuring a system. Once I can get this aspect of things working I will be adding a postrun script that will prompt for interactive networking setup so that the system will be fully operational. I need to be able to get this done without having to boot using any network connectivity.

I have Clonezilla SE server running on Ubuntu 10.4 LTS. With software versions:
    clonezilla              2.3.8-32
    drbl                      1.9.9-21

I've been able to successfully image an Ubuntu 10.4.2 system to the Clonezilla server over the network, and restore that master image to a new device which boots without issue. I've also been able to do a "network" device to device restore while booting from the Clonezilla server and using my master image device.

I've modified both /etc/fstab and grub to be using legacy device pointers on the master image disk.

When I try to do the following scenarios, it fails and the new system will only boot to the 1.99 Grub menu, which requires manual intervention.

    1. Using clonezilla-live-natty.iso and master image device to perform a device to device restore.
    2. Utilizing a created ISO with ubuntu-live-for-ocs-20110113-maverick.iso template and merging with my master image. Merged with this command:

    /opt/drbl/sbin/ocs-iso -j ubuntu-live-for-ocs-20110113-maverick.iso 20110613-ubuntu-img

There is obviously a difference somewhere between the LiveCD, the merged ISO and the Clonezilla server. Has anyone else experienced this issue at all trying to perform these types of cloning? Anyone know what difference there may be that could be adjusted on the CDs?

All of these attempts have been done with the same master image. The only differences are the options I'm using to clone. Any and all assistance, thoughts and any information on how you all may have gotten this cloning to work device to device using the ISO or USB flash drive would be greatly appreciated.

I'd be happy to put up any information that would help anyone help me :)

    Thanks,

    IM-.

Sorry, I am not very sure what you want. Could you please describe more about what you intend to do?

    Steven.
