If you want to use WinXP then you should look at Norton Ghost or something. Although, I recommend Clonezilla, once you learn to use it (quite simple), its very useful and above all its free.

I will second what princy917 says and I'm not a linux person by any means, I used to use Ghost but the benefits of Clonezilla far out weigh it or any other imaging program I've come across.
Am I right in thinking Ghost no longer supports imaging outside the o/s i.e you've got to have it installed in windows before you can restore/make an image?

I am searching for a version which can be installed under WinXP.
Is there such a version?

No. All the programs of Clonezilla are based on GNU/Linux.
